Come join us stalking some of the most beautiful flats and back country anywhere on the Gulf Coast. We specialize in Fly and Light Tackle Sight Fishing From St Joe Bay to the East to Destin in the West. Our Hells Bay Boatworks technical poling skiffs excel at putting the sneak on skinny water redfish as well as sitting on the “outside” laying in wait for monster migrating tarpon — this truly is hands down sight fishing at its finest!
The Big Bend of Florida has an amazing fishery that is a massive highway for migratory species and boasts a significant population of resident fish that we target year round. Slow & Low Coastal Outfitters is based out of Santa Rosa Beach and the 30A area because it is a superb central location with some excellent locales within a short drive. There is always some excitement to be had with some amazing seasonal transitions. If you are visiting the 30A, Panama City Beach or Destin area don’t miss the great opportunity to experience some world class fishing during your stay.
Redfish are a staple and one of our favorite and most challenging species to target. From large Bull Reds wintering in our bay systems to smaller specimens crawling on their bellies or tailing in the shallows, they provide our guests with an exciting target and rarely disappoint. Our area has some of the most exciting and visual red fishing that you will encounter anywhere on the coast. It is a true stalk, one that we are ready to put you in position in order to get the shot. Sneaking up on a fish with his back out of the water, presenting a well tied pattern and then watching the intent and intensity of the eat will have you playing that scenario over and over in your mind until the next time.
If we are not chasing redfish, you can bet it’s Tarpon season! It is the one time of year filled with the most anticipation and undoubtedly the one we look forward to the most. We are fishing Tarpon from May thru August. The experience is one that any angler with a pulse will soon fall in love with. This is 100% sight fishing. Watching a string of 100lb plus fish swimming at the boat will get your knees week and your adrenaline pumping. It is a true must have experience and our local knowledge will put you right in the middle of it. Tarpon trips are full days and more info on Tarpon Specific Charters can be found here.
On any given day depending on season here locally, we also may encounter Jack Crevalle, Bonita, Pompano, Spanish and King Mackerel, Speckled Trout and numerous Shark species which all make for exciting days on the water. Each one of these species is remarkable in their own right. When the conditions are favorable and any of these guys are around you can bet that we will be pursuing them. They are all explosive and challenging which makes them worthy targets on fly or spin.
We are gear junkies here at Slow and Low. If you are unable to travel with your well maintained, high end rods and reels….no worries. When you step on our boat, you can always expect to have top of the line tools. We use Orvis Helios 3 Fly Rods paired with matching Tibor or Orvis Mirage Reels. All flies are hand tied and we are always prepared for whatever we may encounter out on the water. We are experts at knowing the forage species and spend numerous hours making sure our flies fit the bill and get eaten with a good presentation. If spin is your game, we use the latest from Team Daiwa and St. Croix and can always accommodate all anglers no matter your skill level. It is a pleasure to watch a guest evolve throughout the day and be a part of that first sight fished red or maybe even that first fish on fly.
You will need to have a quality pair of Amber or Yellow Lens Polarized Glasses, a hat and light rain gear. Your guide will have everything else we need for the day including a cooler with ice and water. No fishing License is required when we are fishing locally in Florida. Slow and Low Coastal Outfitters guides are fully licensed by the US Coast Guard and you, as our guest, are covered under our Guides Fishing License.
